Lineage

The lineage of Suryaveer Singh Rathore can be traced back to Rao Jodha, who founded the city of Jodhpur in 1459 by laying the foundation of the Mehrangarh Fort.

Suryaveer’s great-grandfather Sardar Singh was the Maharaja of Jodhpur. His reign (1895-1911) was marked by several projects of public importance, which included a street electrification project, and the extension of a railway line in the Marwar region.

Suryaveer’s grandfather was Major General Maharaj Dhiraj Shri Sir Ajit Singh, the third and youngest son of Maharaja Sardar Singh.

He was the prime minister of Marwar during the reign of Maharaja Umaid Singh, and served in the Imperial state forces. In independent India’s first ever general elections in 1952, Major General Maharajadhiraj Shri Sir Ajit Singh was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Sirohi-Pali constituency.

Maharaj Swaroop Singh was Suryaveer’s father. In 1962, Maharaj Swaroop Singh was elected to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from the Luni constituency. In the early 1980s, he decided to convert a portion of Ajit Bhawan into a heritage hotel, one of the first to be established in Rajasthan.
